Superintendent

The Clayton School District has selected Mr. Patrick Sturzl to be the district’s new superintendent following the retirement of current superintendent, Mr. Edward Cerney, in June.   Mr. Sturzl will begin his new duties as superintendent of the Clayton School District on July 1, 2023.

Mr. Sturzl's bio:

I would like to introduce myself to the Clayton School District and community.
My name is Pat Sturzl and I am very excited to be the next District Administrator
in your district.  I am the father of two adult children and the husband to a middle
school math teacher.  Both of my children are currently attending UW-Madison.
Lucas is in his second year of Law School and Lauren is currently a junior starting
the pharmacy school program in the fall.  We love to spend our family time
attending sporting events in Madison, boating and enjoying lake life in the
summer months and hanging around the dining room table playing various
competitive games when we are lucky enough to be all together.  Completing our
family would be our two dogs, Miley and Madison.  Other fun facts include being a
devoted Green Bay Packer fan who loves music, especially U2.  Years ago, I found
that I actually enjoy baking and my family is very appreciative that I am pretty
good at it.

My experience in education started in Bruce School District where I taught
Spanish for 22 years.  During those years I also worked with developing
transportation routes, athletic scheduling, teaching history, coaching different
sports, creating the master schedule and helping hire various staff members.  I
then moved on to be the Director of Curriculum for 3 years.  I have held the
position of District Administrator for the last 7 years.  My personal education
includes receiving my undergraduate degree at UW- Whitewater and my Master’s
Degree from UW- Superior.

I am so impressed by the great community support the Clayton School District
has.  Over the years, I have personally witnessed this at various sporting events.
As I toured the school facility, the pride was very evident in the well-maintained
facility and grounds.  I am drawn to the small school-feel where I am looking
forward to getting to know all the students and families.  As an educational
leader, I have high expectations for all students and staff.  I plan to work
collaboratively with the school board, administration team and staff to maintain
the positive, safe learning environment that Clayton has worked hard to build.
