🦌🚨👮 On Friday, October 4th Polk County Conservation Officer Aaron Koshatka was a guest speaker for Clayton’s Outdoor Wisconsin classroom for their unit on whitetail deer. Officer Koshatka gave an engaging presentation to students about trends in hunting, the risks, and regulations regarding mitigating the spread of chronic wasting disease and talked with students about different aspects of his career. Officer Koshatka also brought in several confiscated antler mounts that were seized due to illegal harvest. Students in Outdoor Wisconsin class will now take the opportunity to practice scoring bucks using these antlers. Prior to this visit, students had investigated different components of deer biology including antler growth. On behalf of the students, Mr. Eichman and Clayton School District, thank you Mr. Kosatka for providing students with an extraordinary learning experience!

In Wisconsin, more than 26,000 youth are members of 4-H. "The 4‑H idea is simple: help young people and their families gain the skills needed to be proactive forces in their communities and develop ideas for a more innovative economy."
