Digital Citizenship Week is October 14-18, 2024.
Digital Citizenship Week was first celebrated in 2010 as a way to provide children with guidance on how to make responsible and ethical decisions in online spaces. Since then, the online world has truly exploded. Therefore, instruction in the safe and responsible use of digital tools has become even more important.
This guidance starts at home. The most important thing you can do is talk with your children. Please take some time this week to talk with your children about your home device and internet rules. If you have some already, terrific! If not, take this opportunity to work out some rules that work for both you and your children. Revisit them often and revise as needed.
Attached, you will find examples of 'contracts' that can help start a conversation with your child about internet safety.

On Friday, October 4th Polk County Conservation Officer Aaron Koshatka was a guest speaker for Clayton’s Outdoor Wisconsin classroom for their unit on whitetail deer. Officer Koshatka gave an engaging presentation to students about trends in hunting, the risks, and regulations regarding mitigating the spread of chronic wasting disease and talked with students about different aspects of his career.
Officer Koshatka also brought in several confiscated antler mounts that were seized due to illegal harvest. Students in Outdoor Wisconsin class will now take the opportunity to practice scoring bucks using these antlers. Prior to this visit, students had investigated different components of deer biology including antler growth.
On behalf of the students, Mr. Eichman and Clayton School District, thank you Mr. Kosatka for providing students with an extraordinary learning experience!
