👷 👷 The students of the Clayton Construction Academy are building their skills with common tools 🪚🔨🛠️ to build some large benches🪑for the softball field 🥎 . They used common brown-treated lumber🪵 and built three benches that were 8 ft long 📏. They used their drawing skills to adapt a design they found online. 💻

Four Middle School Student Council members visited CESA #11 in Turtle Lake on October 17th for internationally known speaker, activist, and author Sam Demma 🗣️ Sam speaks to students about setting goals and steps for making positive changes in their lives. Sam teaches students that we all wear imaginary backpacks🎒. You do not know what people are carrying around with them and to examine their own "backpack" of experiences, expectations of others, and self-talk 🌨️ 🌥️. He shared strategies to help unpack heavy, negative beliefs, and to re-pack confident, positive ➕ beliefs that can help us overcome challenges and achieve our dreams It was an amazing day with lots of good messages for students.💜 💛
🦌 🦌 This past week, Wisconsin DNR Biologist Aaron Seitz joined Clayton High School’s Outdoor Wisconsin class to speak about whitetail deer biology and aging as part of their unit on our state's big game animal. Students from Mr. Eichman’s class were joined by Mr. Luoma’s seventh-grade students. The full house was completely engaged and thoroughly enjoyed how Mr. Seitz explained how to use the lower jaw bones and molar structure of deer to age them and the applications as to why deer are aged in the first place.
Mr. Seitz also discussed the biology behind how the whitetailed deer feeds and explained the dangers and transmission of CWD, Chronic Wasting Disease. Students, as well as Mr. Luoma and Mr. Eichman would like to thank Mr. Seitz and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for sharing jaw bones for students to estimate ages of and for providing us with such an engaging learning experience. 👏 👏
